Here’s what Belinda had to say about it:

“We’re utterly thrilled to win another two awards from The Grocer. We faced stiff competition from other brands in the fresh soups category, so it was incredibly satisfying for us to ‘sweep the board’, as The Grocer editor Adam Leyland put it.”

So, if you fancy trying a delicious award-winning soup, keep an eye out for our Chunky Veg & Ham Soup with Winter Greens & Lentils. You can pick it up from Waitrose, Ocado, Tesco, Co-op, Booths, or some of the better independent shops.

As lovely as it is to win awards, what matters most is what you think. Have you tried one of our soups recently? What did you make of it? Do let us know here.

Our Accounts Manager Chip, took Terry, Belinda’s husband and Joint Owner of Yorkshire Provender on a little jolly home to Romania.

The pair were enjoying a shopping experience in a traditional Romanian supermarket where Chip, guided Terry around the speciality meats, cheeses and wines. Terry then came across a quite an unusual finding of potted “crap” on the shelf.

Chip didn’t flutter an eyelid passing Terry’s finding whilst he held it in astonishment, but then explained that trading standards didn’t need to be notified and it in fact translated to Karp!

If you have any other similar stories from food abroad please send them in!

We are back to give you a few tips for those that have kept up the New Year’s health mission. This month we will be focusing on the pearl of the vegetable world, the pea.

Now if you have kept up the gruelling spinning classes, dragging your limp body up for a morning run and trying to offload your Christmas chocolates to every visitor in your house, you deserve a pat on the back. (Feel free to actually pat yourself on the back).

However contrary to popular belief, health, fitness and being able to fit into that favourite pair of jeans again doesn’t all come from the gym. In fact it is very commonly stated that in reaching your targets it is 80% diet and 20% physical exercise.

Nonetheless with a nudge in the right direction it can be a piece of cake (well not really, maybe a spoonful of soup is more fitting). It isn’t very tasking to eat and you don’t have to live on a diet of celery and cardboard, all you need to know what is good for you and what is a big no no.

For all of your health related targets, the pea is packed full of the punch you need to get closer to that light at the end of the tunnel.

When your mum told you to finish all the peas on your plate she really did know what she was talking about! When trying to get into shape peas reward anyone that uses them as their vegetable of choice. They are one of the highest protein bearing vegetables out there, keeping you fuller for longer and aiding your recovery from your much loved physical exercise, meaning you will go back into the gym stronger and ready to hit your next goal.

The little beauties also contain complex carbohydrates and high fibre to again fill you up quicker and for longer keeping you at bay from that much beloved kit kat. This fibre is also soluble, meaning that it dissolves in water to produce a gloopy like substance that traps bile acids .These clog up your blood vessels with cholesterol, increasing your blood pressure and making it harder to lose that weight amongst other health risks.

They are packed full of nutrients too, boasting high folic acid, copper, iron, and magnesium generally keeping your red blood cells in tip top condition, helping to rebuild new healthy cells whilst battling tiredness. This means you have no excuse not to jump in your car with your kit bag!

So there you have it, the pea is pretty handy little thing isn’t it? To finish off here are 5 tips to help you along your way…. and remember a little pain less gain…

Drink at least a pint of water upon awakening, it spends your metabolism into overdrive for a good few hours and it sets you up for being hydrated in the morning.

Try switching your average cup of tea or coffee for a green tea it again speeds up your metabolism as well as being a great detox agent for free radicles and all sorts of horrid things lurking in your body.

Take two pieces of fruit to work with you; Have one in the morning and one in the afternoon, it’ll keep you blood sugar stable, preventing you from craving those biscuits being passed around the office. You will also avoid the 4 o‘clock slump that makes you want to sleep on any flat surface.

Have a treat cheat day; You will miss those little vices of yours if it’s your favourite chocolate or even the fry up you long for in the morning don’t neglect them or you will crumble! If you try and cut everything out you will give in and all your hard work will be for nothing. If you exercise regularly, put a side a treat cheat day where you can indulge in a few of your favourite bits and bobs and look forward to them without destroying your soul.

Finally, try having our soup for lunch; They are all very low on carbs and calories compared to your dull everyday sandwich, packed full of nutrients to help towards your goals and they are very filling to get you through the day (needless to say they are scrumptious too).

However our Pea Soup with Fresh Spinach and Coriander isn’t our only fat fighting soup, all of our range is low in calories and fat. Check out the recipes below that are especially low in such nasty things.
